Lake Guntersville Fishing Report March 2025: Bass Bonanza and Crappie Crush
from Lake Guntersville, Alabama Fishing Report Today · host Inception Point AI
Hey y'all, Artificial Lure here with your Lake Guntersville fishing report for March 29, 2025. It's shaping up to be a beautiful day out on the water with partly cloudy skies and highs around 72°F. We've got a light breeze coming in from the southeast, perfect for a day of fishing. Sunrise was at 6:32 AM, and we'll see the sun dip below the horizon at 7:02 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to work with. Now, being a landlocked lake, we don't have tides to worry about, but water levels are holding steady around 595 feet. The Corps of Engineers has been running some current through the dam, which has really fired up the fish activity. Speaking of fish, the bass bite has been on fire! Anglers have been reporting limits of 20+ pounds, with several trophy largemouths in the 7-9 pound range being caught. The pre-spawn pattern is in full swing, with bass staging on secondary points and grass lines. Crappie fishing has also been excellent, with some nice slabs being pulled from brush piles in 8-12 feet of water. Catfish action has been steady, especially for those night fishing with cut bait. For lures, you can't go wrong with a lipless crankbait like a Rat-L-Trap in red or gold. Chatterbaits in white or chartreuse have also been producing well when worked through the grass. For finesse fishing, a shaky head worm in green pumpkin has been money. If you're looking for live bait, shiners and nightcrawlers have been the ticket for bass and crappie respectively. As for hot spots, I'd recommend checking out the grass beds around Seibold Creek or working the ledges near South Sauty Creek. The bridge pilings at the Highway 431 causeway have also been holding some good fish. Remember folks, the fish are moving shallow, so don't be afraid to get up in that skinny water. Water temps have been on the rise, hitting the mid-60s in some areas, which has really got those bass thinking about spawning. We're not quite there yet, but it won't be long before we start seeing some fish on beds. If you're looking to land a trophy largemouth, now's the time to focus on soft plastics – particularly something that can be dragged or hopped right by the nest. The bite is going to be strong, especially with the fish becoming more territorial and aggressive around their spawning sites. So grab your gear, hit the water, and let's see if we can break the 30-pound mark this week. Tight lines and good fishing, y'all!
