It is Day 59 in at the Hotel California aka Gilligan's Island aka United States v. Joseph Biggs, et al., in which five (5) members of the Proud Boys are on trial prosecuted with charges of seditious conspiracy in connection with the events of January 6, 2021. At the end of yesterday's stream, Norm received notice from the court that the jury would not convene again until Thursday. Norm updates accordingly. Norm is a frequent listener of Lex Fridman's podcast and thus listened over the weekend to Lex's episode with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. Of course, OpenAI is the parent company that has released GPT-4 and ChatGPT, the phenomenon that has taken American culture by storm in early 2023. Long-time listeners of LAL know that Norm and Mike are both preoccupied with the impending influence of artificial intelligence on American society and humanity writ large.
