"Lament" // Psalm 10, 6, 43, 88, 22, & 74 (Sunday 7/16/23)

Some of the best songs are sad songs… why? "For me, singing sad songs often has a way of healing a situation. It gets the hurt out in the open into the light, out of the darkness." (Reba McEntire) But we’re not very good at lament in our time and culture. There are no highs and lows…just a prosaic ‘middle’, stoic, calm, and collected… Maybe if we’re not doing “good”, there must be something in us that's broken or weak. We project a fake, flimsy version of what it means to live a life with God. I've heard it said, "We don't know we have a soul until it hurts." This Sunday morning, we take a look at the saddest songs in the Bible, and see how these prayers lead us to God; the only one who can do anything about our pain. Sunday 10amArcata Veterans Hall
