Land & Blast Podcast - Episode 16: Vineyards and Wineries in Beautiful Southern Oregon

from Land & Blast Podcast · host Martin Outdoor Property Group

In this episode of Land & Blast, we're excited to learn more about the vineyard and winery industry from our in-house industry expert, Ashley Lacer. A complex industry with a variety of business sectors and scales, Southern Oregon is home to vineyard and winery properties that range from commercial grape operations to boutique vineyard estates to quaint, inviting tasting rooms. The irrigation resources available and the Rogue Valley’s climate create a conducive environment for the production of high-quality wine grapes. The Southern Oregon AVA encompasses Douglas County with the Elkton, Red Hill, and Umpqua Valley AVAs and spreads across Josephine and Jackson Counties within the Rogue Valley and Applegate Valley AVAs. The Rogue Valley AVA includes the Applegate Valley AVA and is an adventurer's paradise. It encompasses nearly 1.2M acres of land in Jackson and Josephine Counties, including Oregon’s first winery, Valley View Winery, founded in 1873 by Peter Britt. Approximately 5,600 acres of vineyards are planted across the region in a number of popular varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris. Aside from commercial and hospitality business avenues in the vineyard and winery world, Southern Oregon has had a growing establishment of vineyard estates and luxury homes, especially in the Jacksonville and Ashland markets in Jackson County. Martin Outdoor Property Group is a leading real estate team for vineyard and winery properties in this area and has sold notable properties, including Carpenter Hill Vineyard Estate, Jaxon Vineyards, Griffin Creek Vineyard, Coleman Creek Vineyard, and numerous others. For more information on these and other available properties, visit www.MOPG.com. Listen in as Ashley Lacer imparts upon us some nuggets of her wisdom from a career that spans over ten years of vineyard and winery appraisal, including appraising over $500,000,000 worth of vineyard estates, tasting rooms, wineries, and other vineyard properties up and down the I-5 corridor.
