Land Rich, Cash Poor

Brian Reisinger is a fourth-generation family farmer from southern Wisconsin who uses his background in writing, politics, and public policy to advocate for the preservation of family farms in America. In his book, Land Rich, Cash Poor: My Family’s Hope and the Untold History of the Disappearing American Farmer, Reisinger explores the struggles of small-scale farmers facing economic challenges, regulatory burdens, and market limitations, all of which threaten their way of life. After his father made the painful decision to sell the family’s dairy herd and diversify operations, Reisinger channeled his emotions into storytelling, highlighting the sacrifices and resilience of farmers. Deeply connected to the land and his family’s legacy, Reisinger believes it’s time for national action to make farming more sustainable for future generations. He remains committed to ensuring his daughter and others can inherit not just farmland, but the traditions and values it represents.
