from UVA and NOVA Legends Podcasts® · host Julian Brown

Erin Keogh Breitenbach is one of the most accomplished high school female distance runners in U.S. history. She set numerous track and course records across the country, won the prestigious Kinney Cross Country Championship twice, and was twice named a national champion. A two-time Gatorade National Track Athlete of the Year, Erin once held national records in the indoor 3,000 and 5,000 meters, as well as the outdoor 3,200 and 5,000 meters. In this conversation, Professor Erin Keogh Breitenbach reflects on her remarkable running career, which began locally at Langley High School a few years after joining a youth running program. She went on to compete for the University of Texas, but injuries prevented her from fully realizing her collegiate potential. Eventually, she rediscovered her love for running and has since built a distinguished career in academia, now serving as a professor and department head at a medical school.
