Lara Bujanda (Subterranean Prints)

from One More Tune

In Episode 59 I chat with Illustrator and Screen Printer Lara Bujanda about not being as punk as she used to be, dying of success and the dirty corners of Berlin. From her studio in Berlin, Lara works under her brand Subterranean Prints to create some of the best gig poster artwork in the world today. Having grown up in the Basque Country where she routinely found herself attending punk concerts in squats as a teenager, she moved to Oslo and founded Subterranean Prints as part of the Blitz House project. From Oslo she moved to Berlin to continue her work in the punk and underground scenes, and has gone on to create unique art for the likes of Lankum, Molchat Doma, Mono, Brutus, King Buffalo to name but a few. Lara joined me from her parents house in the Basque country to talk about where she gets her inspiration from, how she conceptualises each piece, what it's like dealing with artist managers and being done with Berlin....maybe....for now at least......maybe.
