Philip Hamburger is an American legal historian and a scholar of constitutional law.  Hamburger is the Maurice and Hilda Friedman Professor of Law at Columbia University Law School, and the founder in 2014 of the school's Center for Law and Liberty.  He is also the founder, in 2017, of the New Civil Liberties Alliance, of which he is the CEO.  Philip Hamburger is a scholar of constitutional law and its history at Columbia Law School.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and his J.D. from Yale Law School. Before coming to Columbia, he was the John P.
