“Sex is bad, sex is dirty, and you should only have it with someone you are married to” is the conversation that addresses the “sex talk” with your kids out of fear and shame! It breeds shame in our kids and they learn to feel guilt and shame.  If they are taught to feel guilt and shame, they’ll eventually get into relationships or marriages filled with shame, guilt, and secrecy around sex because that's what they have been taught. During this podcast Larry @thedadedge and I, are in no way saying that you should "throw caution to the wind", but we are saying that you should openly talk to your kids from a place of respect, curiosity, clarity, understanding, beauty, and wonder. We encourage you to talk to your kids about protecting their sexual boundaries, good decision-making, and consent. Remember: There's no perfect way for a parent to have this conversation but if you can allow integrity and authenticity to lead the conversation it will make the “sex talk” more comfortable. Imagine how marriages would change if we empowered the next generation to understand and accept their bodies, pleasure, and how to use discernment.
