If you are using opioids for subacute or chronic pain, which including both terms, means treating pain for 1 month or more, your chart must contain some justification for the use of opioids. This is an extremely important matter. Appropriate reasons, such as a prior treater, attempted various nonopioid treatments of some kind that failed. There must be a very good reason why opioids were tried. It must be documented. Larry Kobak, Esq.
