Today, we welcome Larry McFadden—a name that carries decades of local history, heart, and hometown pride. Larry’s family roots run deep in the valley. The McFadden's first arrived in Manson on May 23rd, 1934, escaping the Dust Bowl of Oklahoma and planting themselves firmly in the orchards, businesses, and backroads of Chelan County.Larry grew up in the rhythm of small-town life—from skating at the old Lake Chelan Pavilion, run by his dad, to working at Mac’s Tire Service, a family business that served three communities. On his mother’s side, the Gordons brought their own rich legacy—owning the Travelers Motel and homesteading the Tyee Ranch. And if you’ve ever crossed the “new” bridge into Chelan, you’ve crossed a piece of Larry’s family—it’s named after his great uncle, Dan Gordon.Larry has been devoted to this community for decades—as an Emergency Room nurse for 25 years, a Boy Scout leader, a police reserve, and a familiar face in countless local efforts. His story is one of service, resilience, and a deep love for this place and its people.We’re honored to share his voice today.
