Henry Heist was a thief, ruffian, and troubled soul from the mountains, just west of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Did he murder his friend, Emanuel Monn, with a rusty hatchet? Heist was the last man hanged in Gettysburg, dropping from the gallows in January 1894. Does his ghost still roam the mountains, chased by a pack of spectral hounds?
