I first met Jill McCabe Johnson at a local writers and publishers mixer. A distinguished poet, she struck me as deeply knowledgeable and approachable about all things writing and publishing. It wasn’t always easy for Jill. She needed someone to believe in her writing ability. It was only when she was granted an exemption and Fellowship from Pacific Lutheran University to earn an MFA in Creative Writing—without having completed her Bachelor’s degree—that she felt truly seen and supported. Following that, she went on to earn a PhD in English and came to embrace collaboration and lateral thinking. Want to know more?
