Latest Polls Make Clear: Dems Finding Momentum 8/7/24

from The Mark Thompson Show · host The Mark Thompson Show

At a packed rally last night in Philadelphia, Vice President Kamala Harris presented her new running mate to the nation. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, she said, shares her values of kindness and inclusion, of having freedom over our own reproductive choices, of making sure America is safe with common sense gun laws, clean air and water and she called him a descent and good man. From leading a football team to working with LGBTQ students, from serviceman to Congressman, Harris said Walz keeps people safe and inspires them. The crowd was large, interactive and loud and the energy was one of joy and momentum. New polling data shows a boost in voter support for the Harris/Walz ticket which seems poised to ride the upswell of momentum straight to election day. We turn to journalist and KFI Radio host Mo Kelly for a look at whether the momentum is sustainable and what Tim Walz brings to the Democratic ticket. The August skies will bring us so many fascinating things to see. Our favorite Astronomy Professor Andrew Fraknoi will tell us when the best time to catch the Perseid Meteor Shower will be and we'll find out what a Blue Moon is and when it will arrive. If you have any questions for Professor Fraknoi, you can email them to [email protected] This week's installment of "It's the Planet, Stupid!" brings word of things people are doing to make our world better. Eco-journalist Belinda Waymouth will also take a look at our new Vice Presidential candidate's record on the environment. She says Tim Walz is moving Minnesota forward faster on environmental issues than California!
