Lauren Cohan of AMC's "The Walking Dead"

from The Buzz - BuzzWorthy Radio · host The Buzz - BuzzWorthy Radio

One of the most popular shows on television returns one week from Sunday. “The Walking Dead,” which airs on AMC, is based on the comic book series of the same name. It follows Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his crew having to deal with flesh eating “walkers,” also known as zombies.Lauren Cohan plays the role of Maggie Greene. The character/actress was introduced in the show’s second season as a recurring player. Beginning of the third season, Cohan became a contract player on the series. While the series definitely does not shy away from showcasing intense scenes, we also get to see the relationship develop between Maggie and Glenn (Steven Yeun). We got to talk with Lauren about recent scenes that have aired, including the episodes where Glenn and Maggie were kidnapped by The Governor and Merle:“It was scary, and it was painful for Maggie and Glenn being on the other side of the wall. Going out on the road to gain space and have that great scene where they get the duck and baby formula, you think everything is going to be OK. You have this couple who is in love, and then all of a sudden, it turns into turmoil. That was a pretty intense scene to shoot where you hear Glenn getting beat up on the other side of the wall. You definitely see that Maggie is pretty sheltered up until this point. She’s a good Southern girl that lives with her family on a farm. That scene, I think, was important because that is what would happen in that world. You would see characters like The Governor exacting revenge and power. It was scary to shoot in that sense, but the payoff was worth it because you have the lovers reunited and everything is going to be all right.”In December 2012, it was announced that “The Walking Dead” was renewed for a fourth season. However, showrunner Glen Mazzara will not be returning to the helm as Scott Gimple is set to take over. Lauren definitely assured that fans have nothing to worry about when season 4 begins:“I have to say that running the show is not an easy job. Glen has given us two fantastic seasons. We will miss him, but we will also have someone stepping up who is really great. Scott is one of our favorite writers on the writing staff. Fans will have nothing to worry about. It will completely honor everything the show has been doing, and maybe give us a change in viewpoints, which could be fun. If we are all excited, you all will be excited. Some exciting stuff is coming.”Don’t worry, folks. We did try to get some scoops as to what we can expect when the show returns from hiatus. You just have to wait and see for sure if Glenn really is pregnant. Wouldn’t that be a twist, eh?“The Walking Dead” returns with new episodes on Sunday, October 13 at 9/8c on AMC.Download the full podcast with Lauren Cohan where she spoke about “Reach Me,” a romantic comedy movie she just finished, as well as more “Walking Dead” tidbits.
