Laurie Darby is a printmaker, papermaker, and book artist. She is the author of the book, Following Freedom. “Following Freedom" was created as a tribute to the hundreds of formerly enslaved people who died following the Union army soldiers at Ebenezer Creek in Georgia in 1864, during the American Civil War. Darby's artist book, "Following Freedom," is on view in The Print Center's (Philadelphia) current exhibition, "America Today: Voices in Contemporary Print" through July 25. The show is free + open to the public. The exhibition "America Today" features 38 artists who harness the power of printmaking to amplify their voices and engage directly with the issues that shape American society. Laurie joins the show to discuss the context of her book, Following Freedom.
