Lawmakers focused on school and tax reform proposals

The Senate unveiled a new school finance bill Thursday – one that includes $5,000 teacher pay raises and several ideas the House had already nixed from its version. Over in the House, the Ways and Means committee laid out a revised version of SB2 – the Senate’s property tax proposal – and renamed it the Texas Taxpayer Transparency Act. www.texastribune.org
