In Q4 2018, Oliver Weingarten co-founded a grassroots, fan-focused esports org, LDN UTD, to provide opportunity and accessibility for gamers to take the path to pro, whilst aligning with societal benefits (fitness, nutrition, life skills) and social purpose. Gamers upload their best content to the platform and fans vote their favorite. The gamers are invited to “try-out” against each other for places (and a contract) in LDN UTD’s team. To date they have created Fortnite, Apex, and FIFA teams, hosting events at traditional gaming bars as well as in Lewisham Shopping Centre (#GrimeAgainstKnives). Oliver Weingarten is also a commercially astute leader and experienced Board member with a strong passion for sports. His original career in law at the Premier League transitioned into one with a focus on broader sports business including the commercial and broadcasting landscape. This is demonstrated by his cumulative ten years of working at the Premier League (in a General Counsel role) and thereafter Formula One Teams' Association (as Secretary General) operating in challenging environments, before getting involved in Formula E, technology and esports.
