Le Parti républicain ne contrôle plus rien, Trump non plus

Dimanche 8 janvier, nous avons assisté à une réédition de l'insurrection du Capitole du 6 janvier 2021. Cette fois-ci, nous n'étions pas aux États-Unis, mais à Brasilia, au Brésil. Cette insurrection était menée par les partisans de l'ex-président Jair Bolsonaro –dont on connaît par ailleurs les liens idéologiques et personnels avec Donald Trump. Pendant ce temps-là, à Washington, la Chambre des représentants connaissait aussi des heures mouvementées. Lors des élections de novembre dernier, la Chambre a basculé du côté républicain et il fallait donc, à l'ouverture de la nouvelle législature le 3 janvier, élire un nouveau speaker.Or, il a fallu pas moins de quinze tours de scrutin au candidat républicain Kevin McCarthy pour se faire élire, car il faisait face à une fronde venue de la droite du parti. McCarthy a dû leur octroyer des concessions importantes, qui risquent de compliquer le fonctionnement de la Chambre dans les mois qui viennent. Et quand on évoque cette «fronde venue de la droite du parti», ça va loin puisque Kevin McCarthy est lui-même soutenu par Trump.Qui sont ces élus plus trumpistes que Trump?
