Edward Lujan: Founder and Chair Emeritus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) • Former Chairman of Manuel Lujan Insurance Agency • Former Chairman of the State Economic Development Commission and UNM & NMSU Foundation Boards. Mr. Edward Lujan, born in Santa Fe on August 11, 1932, graduated from New Mexico State University with degrees in agriculture and agricultural education, later receiving an honorary doctorate. He had a long career in the insurance industry, serving as the Chairman and CEO of the Manuel Lujan Agencies, which grew into the largest privately owned insurance agency in New Mexico. He has held various leadership roles, including chairman of the New Mexico Economic Development Commission and the state Republican Party from 1983 to 1987. He dedicated 12 years to the NDI Board and currently serves as an Emeritus Board Member. Notably, he was named “Treasure of New Mexico” in 2004." Mr. Lujan played a pivotal role in establishing the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC), serving as its board president during its formation in 1995. He has been honored as “Chairman Emeritus” for his contributions to the NHCC.
