Leaders: Commit to Yourself! - An Interview with Ela Staniak

from The Manager Track · host Ramona Shaw

...How committed are you to yourself? To your personal growth, your happiness, and your contentment? So committed you would stop WHAT you are doing and see HOW you are doing when you're feeling triggered, hurt, anxious, restless, or stressed? So often we are in such a hurry to do things and get stuff done that we completely ignore ourselves. We break the promises and commitments we made to ourselves to fulfill promises and commitments made to others. Helping, supporting, and caring for others are all wonderful traits but what happens if and when we give up on ourselves in the process of doing so? Committing to ourselves and our own needs is a huge part of Self Leadership and in my view, Leadership starts with Self Leadership. Now, I know this is easier said than done. I agree with Mary Kay Ash when she said “The first step is the hardest – making a commitment to yourself, for yourself.” And that's why I'd like you to meet Ela Staniak. Ela is an amazing leadership coach from Australia and the topic of Commitments is right down her ally. I had a chance to speak with her about committing to ourselves and what happens if we don't.
