Leafs Draft McKenna First Overall

The Toronto Maple Leafs just made history by selecting 18-year-old phenom Gavin McKenna first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft — a move that signals a bold, high-stakes bet on the future. McKenna, who exploded with 51 points in 35 games for Penn State and amassed over 240 points in the WHL, brings championship DNA, gold medals from international tournaments, and elite honors like CHL Player of the Year. GM John Chayka praised his rare combination of talent and character, calling him an exceptional young man. McKenna joins an elite club — only the third Leaf ever to be picked 1, and one of the few from the Yukon to ever reach the first round. The Leafs are counting on him to be their next franchise cornerstone. Support the show: Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
