Learning to Be Your Own Biggest Fan with Haley Bretl

from Don't Eat Your Young: A Nursing Podcast · host TruStory FM

Haley Bretl knew that she wasn’t herself and was tired of pretending to be happy both at work and at home. She decided it was time to take care of herself. After trying therapy and prescription medications, Haley found a coach that was the right fit for her and it changed her life. With the help of her coach, she found out that she was her own biggest fan. From that grew her business to help other nurses through their dark days and show them that there was light on the other side. Your Biggest Fan is a program for nurses that need to know that they are an individual first and a nurse second. So many times, nurses forget who they are because they feel that their career in nursing defines them. Haley is here to cheer them on until they are able to cheer for themselves. About Haley BretlI was a self-doubt riddled, anxious, past-obsessed, burned out nurse whose breaking point was a meltdown at a wedding. I tried therapy multiple times over the course of a few years. I tried numerous prescription drugs to get me through the day & sleep at night... no resolution. I knew there had to be more to life than walking around like a zombie, pretending to love my job AND myself for that matter. A coach was my way to move forward. After a couple years of my own journey, I realized that I owed my life to the results I got from my coach and that I wanted to do the same for other nurses. In just about eight years of nursing, I have worked on staff and as a traveler at 12 different hospitals in many different specialties including COVID crisis response. I currently work PRN in Med/Tele/COVID, mentor, and coach through Your Biggest Fan (YBF), my thriving program for overworked nurses. In YBF, I help nurses create a personalized self-care system that sticks to ditch the stress, overwhelm & burnout. I will be your biggest fan until you're ready to become your own. You First, Nurse Second. Learn more about supporting the Don’t Eat Your Young Podcast with a membership — visit Don’t Eat Your Young’s membership page!Links & NotesFollow Haley on FacebookFollow Haley on Instagram (00:00) - Welcome to Don't Eat Your Young (00:24) - Haley Bretl (00:51) - Her Nursing Journey (05:45) - Helping New Nurses (09:05) - Bullying (10:11) - What She's Doing Now (12:05) - Life Coach Certification (14:18) - Facebook Group & Coaching (19:14) - Advice or Tips (19:46) - Socials (20:15) - Wrapping Up ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
