Learning To Breathe: Discerning The Holy Spirit
from The Vine Austin · host The Vine; a church in Austin, TX
We are continuing in our series Learning to Breathe: 50 Days with the Holy Spirit. This week, we consider how followers of Jesus are to discern the Spirit's guidance in our lives. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. How was your experience with the Prayer of Examen last week? What was difficult about it? What was helpful? 2. This week, we consider our call to discern the Holy Spirit. How have you seen discerning God's will done well? How have you seen it get tricky or even exploitive? 3. What stayed with you from the sermon- either an encouragement or something you continue to wrestle with? 4. Mark shared, one of the reasons we have relegated the Spirit is because we are already being led by other things. Read Ephesians 5:14-20. Why is drunkenness a great example of how we can be led and influenced by things other than the Spirit? 5. Consider if Paul was here today. As well as drunkenness, what would he call out as influencing and guiding our lives and decision making? What about your own life? 6. What is a next step for you in allowing the Holy Spirit's presence and leadership to guide your life? www.thevineaustin.org
