Learning to Breathe: The Holy Spirit as an Instrument of Justice
from The Vine Austin · host The Vine; a church in Austin, TX
This week we are continuing our 50 days with the Holy Spirit by considering the Holy Spirit as an instrument of justice. Vine member Andrew Fike walks us through the history of God's people and God's heart for justice as well as what it means for us today. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. How was your experience last week with discerning the Holy Spirit? Did anything meaningful take place? How was it challenging? 2. What stayed with you from the sermon- either an encouragement or something you continue to wrestle with? 3. Have the group try to recall the different geographic locations and their meanings. After recalling this, where might you be in your life? 4. Read Luke 4:14-30. When you consider Isaiah’s prophecy and God’s heart for justice, can you recall a time where you experienced or saw God’s presence with the marginalized? 5. Part of the Spirit’s work is that of deliverance. Where do you see bondage at work in our society or your life? 6. One step in partnering with the Spirit for justice is to notice what draws out your compassion. Is there a need or a people group whom you have greater compassion for? How can you get proximate to them this week?
