Learning to Love the Unlovable

Love is at the heart of the Christian faith. Jesus commanded His followers to love God with all their heart, soul, and mind and to love their neighbors as themselves (Matthew 22:37-39). But what happens when our "neighbors" are difficult to love? How do we respond to those who hurt us, irritate us, or seem impossible to tolerate? The Bible does not shy away from addressing these challenges. Jesus' life provides a profound example of loving the unlovable, and His teachings challenge us to follow His example. Through this devotional, we will explore what it means to love the unlovable, why God calls us to do it, and how His Word equips us for this divine task.
