Learning to Say No

from Horse Hippie’s Morning Mantras · host Horse Hippie

Morning Mantra: "Saying 'Yes" to your well-being means saying 'No' sometimes."This one is hard.  Because we are raised to be helpful, accommodating, and to put the needs of others ahead of our own. I have found that you have to actually learn to say no.But learning to say no must be done without feeling guilty. Setting boundaries is a healthy skill. You need to learn to respect and take care of yourself as well as everyone else or you risk burnout and feelings of resentment. It’s OK to say no to someone you love. It’s OK to say no to a friend. It’s OK to say no in a job or relationship. It’s OK to say no to a person who is romantically interested in you. Even if it hurt someone’s feelings, even if you disappoint people, even if you’re judged and criticized – it’s OK to say no to anything or anyone that causes you pain, stretches you too thin, or makes you uncomfortable. You are allowed to put yourself first. You are allowed to set limits and boundaries. You deserve to make your own happiness and well-being a priority. You don’t ever have to settle for something or someone that doesn’t feel right. And you definitely don’t have to compromise yourself for the sake of making other people happy.  You have to take care of yourself and if that means saying no, it’s more than OK.It’s only by saying no that you can concentrate on the things that will help you grow and make you happy.#BeOKWithNo #BeHappy #BeHorsey #BeHippie #HorseHippie #MorningMantra #InspirationalQuotes #Inspire #Quotes #FeelGoodQuotes
