Learning To Walk Again with Michael Herst

from Make Peace With Food · host Sherry Shaban

How would you feel if you were told that you would never walk again? After sustaining an injury on the job and being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, Police Sergeant Michael Herst was told by his Doctors that ending up in a wheelchair was inevitable. Michael knew he would do whatever he could to slow the progression of his disease. He tried everything the doctors suggested, he even agreed to clinical trials of new medications, only to be left disappointed and in a worse condition than he was already in. Michael had almost lost hope. It wasn’t until his daughter was getting married that everything changed. Her only wish on her wedding day was for her father to walk her down the aisle. Hearing these words ignited an inner fire for Michael to find the path to healing. On this episode of Fall in love with Fitness, Michael shares with us his journey to health through conquering his mindset, mastering nutrition and rebuilding physical strength, and how this led him to launch his podcast One More thing before you Go. Have a listen to Athletes. This one resonates with me so much because there too was a time where I was told I had the same fate.
