Legacy with Matt Proctor
from Because of Jesus... Hosted by Spencer Christian Church
What kind of footprints are we leaving for the generations that follow us? This message digs into one of the most sobering and inspiring truths a parent, grandparent, or mentor can wrestle with: our influence does not stop with us. Drawing from Ephesians 6:4, we are called to bring up the next generation in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, and that single verse carries enormous weight when we begin to understand just how far our legacy can reach. The historical contrast between two families, one marked by faith and intentionality and the other by neglect and moral drift, makes the stakes impossible to ignore. Generations down the line, the fruit of a single life is still being harvested, for better or for worse. Scripture itself shows us this pattern, from Abraham to Isaac to Jacob to Jacob's sons, where habits of deception passed from one generation to the next almost without anyone noticing. The central spiritual lesson here is both humbling and hopeful: we are not just raising children, we are shaping people who will shape people. And the greatest goal we can aim for is not happy kids, successful kids, or even good kids, but godly kids who know and love the Lord with their whole hearts.
