He is a clinical professor of communications at the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California. He has interviewed Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and others. Between 1964 and 1969 he was Vietnam correspondent, managing editor and editor in chief of Ramparts magazine.
