Legends: Jimmy Watkins, The Running Punk

from The Bailey And Harding Ultra Sound System

In this Legends episode, Anna interviews Jimmy Watkins, co-founder of The Running Punks.Jimmy is a former GB athlete - who, in his own words, quit for rock & roll. In 2006, our guest reached the 800m final at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow, having clocked a PB and Welsh indoor record of 1 minute 47.23 seconds in the semifinals but despite his incredible talents on the track, Jimmy ran his last full season in 2007 - before pursuing a career in music. He went on to have considerable success as the frontman of rock band Future of The Left and The Vega Bodegas. And got back into running in 2019 - documenting it with regular social media updates and through his own podcast, ‘Megabus To The Ritz’. Here Jimmy talks to Anna about everything that got him where he is today, the importance of music on a run and why he's no longer allowed in altitude tents. Grab a cuppa and sit in a safe space - this one is absolutely hilarious. This week's podcast is proudly sponsored by INOV8.Visit www.inov8.com and use code BHUSS15 to get a nice meaty discount.Instagram: www.instagram.com/ultrasoundsystempod Playlist: https://bit.ly/ultrasoundsystemplaylist Email us: [email protected]
