While both films performed well, the former won the battle, with the long-gestating film based on Mattel's bestselling doll bringing in over a billion dollars at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2023. With Margot Robbie in the title role leading an all-star cast, including Ryan Gosling as Ken, the pink-drenched flick's production department caused a national paint shortage of its signature hue.
