LEGION BASEBALL: Pipestone senior team eliminated

ST. JAMES — Pipestone American Legion Post No. 6 was eliminated from the Senior Legion Division II Southwest Substate Tournament. Springfield defeated Pipestone, 10-3, on Thursday, July 16. Luka Quist walked and scored twice. Zayne Zollner also provided an RBI for Post No. 6. That loss sent Pipestone to the elimination bracket. Mankato Loyola nipped Post No. 6, 2-0, on Friday, July 17. Zollner pitched a complete game, and he had Pipestone’s lone extra-base hit — a double. Nick Bruns played well with two hits.
