Lennon Stella on New Album, ‘Nashville’ & Cameron Winter | The Rolling Stone Studio
from Rolling Stone All Access Hosted by Rolling Stone
Lennon Stella joins Angie Martoccio inThe Rolling Stone Studio at our New York office to discuss ‘Sleeping Lion,’ her first new album in six years. It was worth the wait: the record, out later this month, contains 12 autumnal folk gems best heard in your living room, with Stella delivering a raw and intimate perspective on relationships within her life. The 27-year-old songwriter takes us inside the new album, and explains how she scrapped an earlier version of it, before she linked up with producer Andy Shauf. She goes deep on the musicians who inspired it — from overlooked visionaries like Nick Drake and Connie Converse to contemporary indie stars like Geese's Cameron Winter. She also reflects on her early career, including Nashville and her viral YouTube days with her sister, Maisy.
