Lent and the Choices We Make

Readings for the First Sunday in Lent - Genesis 2:7-9; 3:1-7;  Matthew 4:1-11In the Book of Deuteronomy, God tells us "I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.  Choose life, then, that you and yours may live."  And while we don't hear that exact reading today, we really do.  We hear about the choices of Adam and Eve and Jesus, and the profound consequences of each.  It's no surprise that as we begin this season of Lent, we are faced with these readings.  If we wish to be new people when we come to the waters and new life of Easter, we have to make some decisions, too.
