Leon Bailey’s Journey from Investing, Airbnb, and Land Development. Episode #6 - with Tabitha Richardson

My guest, Leon Bailey, talks about his journey in real estate that started when he was in college at Hampton University. Instead of continuing to rent with roommates, he decided to purchase a property and house hack. He picked up his first property by assuming a VA veterans loan for half the amount of what it was worth! After graduation, he moved to Maryland and his long real estate history really began. After purchasing a new construction home, he and his wife decided to take real estate classes together to get a better understanding of the process. What they once looked at as a home to raise a family, turned into an opportunity to flip and make money. After getting his real estate license in 2007, he quickly earned success by selling $10 million in sales his first year! Later, one question that was asked of him sparked a collection of real estate investment properties. That question was, “how many properties do you have?” He leveraged his 401k retirement account and credit cards to fund his first investments, which we can see now proved to be a good choice. Through his investment career, he evolved into owning AirBNB properties in South Carolina in the Atlantic Beach area. He then found a love for land development and building homes from the ground up. This has sparked his love for getting more involved in developing communities. He was recently appointed by the County Executive for Prince George’s County in Maryland to the Redevelopment Board. Hearing about all of his endeavors on the journey to where he is and where he is going is inspiring! I know there is so much more to come in the future and we can’t wait to watch him continue to grow in his purpose.
