The track is Astronaut and it absolutely soars. I didn’t get to share the full story on the pod, so here’s the deal. Leon first came to light fronting The Brightlights, an indie band that won Channel 4’s Road to V competition back in 2007. They landed a main stage slot at V Festival and grabbed attention across the UK music press. But just as things were taking off, the band vanished like a haddock at Steels Cornerhouse in Cleethorpes. (Trust me, that’s fast.) Leon didn’t disappear though. He went deep into songwriting, quietly building his craft away from the spotlight. That journey really came into focus during the pandemic, when solitude became the creative spark.
