Leon Bond Brings Physicality to Cyclones | Big 12 Basketball News

Leon Bond III is bringing elite rim-running, scoring, and defensive prowess to Ames, and Cyclone fans are buzzing. A two-year standout at UNI, he averaged nearly 12 points and 5 rebounds while earning All-Defense honors and hitting over 75% from the line. Standing 6’5” and packing 200 pounds, he’s a versatile defender and playmaker who thrives in the paint — exactly the kind of physical, skilled scorer Iowa State’s offense has been missing. Though the jump from the Missouri Valley to the Big 12 is steep, Bond’s high-level pedigree — including time at Virginia — and his fundamentals make him ready for the challenge. His ability to draw fouls and convert free throws will be key against tougher competition. This is a major upgrade for the Cyclones — and Bond’s just getting started.
