Leprosy as a picture of sin (based on Leviticus 13&14)

Leprosy is a picture (a metaphor for sin). We see in Leviticus 13-14 a description of leprosy (defiling skin diseases) that paints a picture of what sin is like and what has been done for us as a result of it.We see in Leviticus 13 that Sin Spreads (Lev 13.5-8), and that Sin Defiles & Isolates us (Lev 13.44-46). Sin desensatises us, it deadens our nerves (just like leprosy does). We see in Leviticus 14 the process that the sick person went through to be cleansed: First, the Priest went to the leper (Lev 14.1-3) - Jesus came to us (Luke 19.10, and Matt 18.12-14). Second, a sacrifice was offered (Lev 14.8-20) - Jesus is our sacrificial lamb (Heb 9.22, 10.1-25; John 1.29; 1 Cor 5.7; 1 John 4.9-10, and John 3.16). Three, the sick person had to do something; they had to act. In Leviticus, they were responsible for cleaning themselves (Lev 14.8-9).
