Les Misérables Volume III Book 5 Chapter 5-6

In which a young man named Marius, lost in gentle reverie and humble circumstances, wanders the quiet streets of Paris, contemplating the finer points of life and humanity whilst quietly aiding his impoverished neighbours. Meanwhile, an old royalist, exasperated by the youthful stirrings of revolution and change, finds unwelcome company in a soldier disguised as a civilian, sparking a curious discourse on the follies of the new generation.
