Lesotho's media freedom is once again in the spotlight following news yesterday that a South Afican Broadcasting Corporation Correspondent Nthakoana Ngatane had to flee the country following numerous threats on her life. This is the latest in a string of incidences of violence and intimidation against journalists in the landlocked country. Earlier this year two Lesotho radio stations were cut off air, allegedly on instructions from the Minister of Communications. The stations were later re-opened after obtaining a court order. In July 2016, another journalist Keiso Mohloboli fled Lesotho after being arbitrarily arrested and interrogated in relation to an article she published in the Lesotho Times and after her editor was shot and seriously injured.
