Lessons From A Wedding

from His24-7.com · host Rev. Joel D. McMahon III

John 2:1-11 I have performed hundreds of weddings in my lifetime, and one thing is always the same. Everyone wants the wedding to be perfect, no flaws. People plan, and fret, and cry and all sorts of things, but still, things do go wrong. I have seen wedding rings tied so tightly to a pillow that no one could get them loose. I have seen unity candles that just wouldn’t light. I’ve seen cute little flower girls notice that there were flowers left in her basket when she got to the Bride, and just dump what was left on the floor right behind the bride. I had a groomsman pass out from locking his knees in such an amusing way that it made America’s Funniest Home Videos. And here, as Jesus attends a wedding, disaster strikes. They run out of wine, and it’s going to be so embarrassing to both families. Why it happened, we don’t know, but we can identify with a lot of the possible reasons. It could have been poor planning. It could be that a delivery hadn’t come when it was supposed to. It could be that the supplier put the wine on back order because he was having supply chain issues. It could be that a lot of unanticipated guests showed up. It could be that the guests just really drank a lot. Just let your own imagination run wild. No matter what the cause, no matter if blame can be pinned on somebody or some thing, they ran out of wine and it was about to get tragically embarrassing. The good thing is that Mary notices and asks Jesus to help. That made all the difference in the world!

Wisdom's Proof JesusLifeTogether In a world of religion, ritual, hierarchy, control, money, marketing, and more flavors than 10,000 Baskin Robbins — how can we know what is Right and True? Some just give up. Bad move. JESUS LIVES and REIGNS! Some simply "go along to get along" to conform to culture and biological family. Really bad move, unless you are a lemming and don't care about the destiny someone else has chosen for you. But then JESUS, knowing this day would come, said, "By their fruit you shall know them" and "Wisdom is PROVED RIGHT by all her CHILDREN." Luke 7:35 Find some random offspring from whatever you wish you knew more about, look carefully at the second generation, and see if the gates of Hell are prevailing — as they would in a "mere words" and "mere ceremonies" attendance-based religious organization. OR, is satan getting busted in the mouth by that second generation? What is the fruit and the quality of LIVES of the children - once they can make their own choices? Then you'll Know. Wisdom is PROVED
