Lessons in Living Longer-Finding Your Life's Purpose

from The Jason Wright Show

I don’t just want to live longer. I want to live longer and healthier. I want to be challenging Peter Attia at the Centenarian Decathlon. I want to play with my great great grandkids. Therefore, I want to find all the ways to hedge my bets to that end. One thing I’ve discovered in my research on longevity is that having a life’s purpose is key to longevity. I study by the NIH conducted in 1973 found that those who could name their purpose in life were twice as likely to live longer than those who could not. My life’s purpose is to improve always in all ways. It’s to become the best version of myself so that I’m the best father, husband and member of my community possible. I want to inspire others to be the best version of themselves so that the world will be a happier and more joyful place. What’s your purpose? We all have one whether we know it or not. Mark Manson says one of the best ways to know your purpose is to look toward those things that when you do them you forget to eat or poop. A key to finding your purpose is getting over yourself. Move your ego aside. Stop worrying about being important. Worry about being passionate and mission focused. Let your happiness, joy and performing your best as a human become of utmost importance. Don’t focus on what others think because I have a secret for you. They aren’t thinking about you anyway. If you are a failure or you are a great success, they don’t give a sh**. They have their own fears, problems and ambitions. They don’t have time to think about you. Take time to discover your life’s purpose. I’m going to be doing a 12 part series on living longer in The Vitruvian Letter. I hope you’ll check it out.
