Matthew 13:10-17 We are starting Matthew 13 which is comprised mostly of parables. These verses explain why Jesus is teaching in parables. He has used a parable or two before in Matthew's Gospel but there are seven (or eight depending on how you count them) in this chapter alone.A parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning and, according to Jesus, their use is two-fold. For those that have rejected the message of the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand, any further truth will be veiled in parables. For those that have accepted the message, the parables illustrate and reveal further truths about the Kingdom.
