Let God Be God: Practical Lessons from Daniel 4

In this Sunday Bible Study, we walk through Daniel 4 and Nebuchadnezzar's hard lesson in humility as God uses the king's dream, his fall and eventual restoration to demonstrate that “the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men.” We look at both the prophetic and practical sides of the chapter: God's authority is everlasting, pride brings abasement, and human wisdom can never replace dependence on the Lord. Nebuchadnezzar's experience also becomes a warning about self-exaltation, misplaced confidence and trying to live as though we are ultimately in control. Sometimes God allows us to spend time in the pasture before we reach the palace, and Daniel 4 leaves us with a simple but weighty lesson: seek God's wisdom, learn what adversity is trying to teach us, and above all, let God be God.
