Let Them Choke

Morning Mantra: “Stop cutting yourself into tiny pieces, stay whole and let them choke.”

This quote is from a really good book, "Women don't owe you pretty." by Florence Gibbons.  In it she explains that many women live the "splintered life", with fragmented version of themselves. 

They’ve chosen the versions of themselves that they think are ideal, acceptable, approachable, and loveable.  But they are not whole. They are not being the fullest version of themselves because they are afraid of being vulnerable.

Now why would we refrain from being our fullest, most authentic selves?  Because we are afraid we’re not going to be accepted by everyone.  But THAT’S OK!  You don’t need everyone to accept you. You only need those that are willing to embrace your whole self. 

You must realize that you will never be accepted by everyone- even if you continue to splinter yourself to fit each situation.  Just be yourself so that you can truly connect with those that WILL accept and love you for who you are. These people will make you feel emotionally safe.

It is better to be accepted for who you fully are, than to live falsely by trying to please everyone.
