I suggest letting her take the lead on where Johnny should go to school and which soccer team he should play for, because she cares more and her self-concept is more tied to the children.  However, there is a definite exception, which is when your wife is consumed by anxiety and she doesn't allow the kids to do much of anything.  We will discuss how and when to take the initiative on expanding your kids' lives and horizons and when to step back and allow her to be the default parent.  Also covered: how to tell if your wife likes being the default parent even if she says she doesn't.
