LETHAL WEAPON (1987)
from Aya Vs. The Big Boys Hosted by Aya Lehman, Kevin Cookman
To wash down the icky sticky sentimentality of Valentine's Day, the dynamic duo dances the tango with an all-timer 80s action duo: Murtaugh and Riggs. It's your estranged uncle's all-time favorite movie, and probably airing somewhere on cable as we speak, it's Richard Donner and Shane Black's LETHAL WEAPON. That's right.... It's an episode where Mr. Mel Gibson is discussed. Instantly cursed! The truth is, LETHAL WEAPON is just not that interesting of a movie: it gets the job done, but its most intriguing aspects are sanded down to their most sellable features. Instead, Aya & Kevin talk about Martin Scorsese's latest essay on art vs. content, Tina Fey's abominable whiteness, Shane Black's career, and if watching movies by cancelled filmmakers should make you feel icky.
