Jalisa Hardy joined us from Maryland, where she is a publisher, author and all around amazing single mama. She got pregnant with her second only 6 weeks after giving birth to her first at 30 weeks! She struggled with landing in her body again. The biggest challenge she faced was the person she chose to have her kids with. She wanted her kids to grow up in a non-broken home so she and her parents moved in together and they are neighbors with her sister and her kids. Intergenerational living is amazing! Her co-parent chose to walk away from her and his three kids so she pulled herself up and did the bravest thing she could do. Her mom has always been her biggest supporter and she was right there with her through all of it. She even thought at one point that her kids would be better off without her but thanks to her mom and her therapist, she realized that wasn't true and kept putting one foot in front of the other. Monster mom comes out sometimes but she does the best she can to prove to her kids that no matter how broken you are, you keep picking yourself up and learn from it to move on. Giving yourself grace is so important and our kids give it to us so we need to give it to ourselves. These moments teach our kids that no one has to be perfect. The best apology is changed behavior. She wishes she would have known what a roller coaster mamahood can be. Embrace the moments of the ups and downs!
