Let's Be Real - Mama Journeys - Episode 166 W/Luba Patlakh Kaplun
from Let's Be Real: Mama Journeys · host Nikki Brooker
Luba Patlakh Kaplun is a mom of three, speech language pathologist and a small business owner called Kidology. She is also an advocate for parents with children with IEP's. She became a mom at the age of 28 and she has three under the age of 10, the loves of her life. She was born in Ukraine but immigrated to the US when she was 2. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is her hometown and where she currently resides. Her biggest challenge of mamahood was raising her business while raising her kids. The juggle is real and balancing the three kiddos and making sure all three of them are cared for in the same ways. Her mama was her biggest supporter and she lost her three years ago to pancreatic cancer. She lost her biggest supporter and has been parenting for three years without her, and that's tough. Her best mama moment was when she earned her Master's Degree and was able to share that with her first born! She also loves the fact that her children speak with such pride at school about their family and home. That feels like a "win" in her mama pride book. Her worst mama moments come when her reactions to the situation are not putting her best foot forward. She wishes she would have known that nothing that happens with your kiddos lasts forever so embracing those moments. She started the advocacy for parents with kids with IEP because of her lived experience in her speech/language pathology world. Her website is theconfidentiepparent.com to help train parents on how to handle their IEP journey.
